Q: Do I need to bring my own support staff?
A: No; you will be supported by our support staff 24 hours a day for the duration of your holiday.  

Q: What is the staff ratio? 
A: Three to four guests to one support worker depending on needs. One to one support can be arranged at an additional supplement. 

 

Q: Will I have a room on my own? 
A: All holidays are based on twin rooms, but we can arrange single rooms (subject to availability) at an additional supplement. 

 

Q: Do I need a passport? 
A: Yes, if you are travelling abroad.  

 

Q: What is included in the cost

Almost Everything. Meals, Accommodation, Activities, Entrance fees, home visit, transportation and all support required at a maximum 3-to-1 staffing level. The money you will need to bring with you should cover the costs of any gifts, souvenirs and extra snacks & drinks outside the main meals.

 

Q: Are staff CRB checked? 
A: Yes, all our staff hold an enhanced CRB check.  

 

Q: Do I need travel insurance? 
A: All guests will need to arrange their own individual travel insurance for holidays in the UK or abroad.    

 

Q: Will I need spending money? 
A: We recommend that you bring about £10 per day to cover any gifts, souvenirs or extra drinks & snacks you might want to buy. The holiday is inclusive of all meals and activities so, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to spend anything extra. If you wish our support staff to look after your money, please bring a purse with your name labelled on it.

   

Q: Are your holidays wheelchair accessible? 

A: We always do our best to book holidays that are wheelchair accessible. However; there may be occasions where this is not possible – Please contact us with your requirements.  

Q: Do you provide transport to and from my home? 
A: We can arrange for you to be picked up from your home depending on your location. There will also be central pick up points.  

 

Q: Do you provide support with personal care? 
A: Yes, we can arrange support for personal care. If required, this will be discussed in your home visit

 

Q: Can you administer medication? 
A: Yes. Our staff are trained in the administration of medication. Please hand any medication, in its original pharmacy-filled container, to your pick-up driver, along with any M.A.R. sheets you would like us to keep updated for you. Ability Options will also keep a record of any administered medication.

 

Q: What do I need to bring?

A:

  • Enough clothes, underwear and appropriate footwear for the duration of your stay.
  • Toiletries
  • Towel, unless we inform you otherwise
  • Any adapted aids you might need
  • Medication
  • Spending money
  • Things for the journey (packed lunch, magazine, music…)

 

Q: Do I need Insurance

Insurance is compulsory for any holiday abroad. Please provide details of the insurance company and policy number at least a month before travel. For holidays in the UK we recommend that you take out comprehensive insurance to cover loss of belongings, and particularly the cost of your holiday if you must cancel. Ability Options do not provide travel insurance.
